Backups & Snapshots

Your enterprise architecture model is a critical business asset. Kyb provides continuous data protection through point-in-time snapshots, automated pre-operation safety backups, and portable native project bundles.

Accessing the Backups Panel

In the Explorer, click the Settings gear in the top action bar to open Project Settings, then select the Backups tab. From here, you can take snapshots, view existing point-in-time recovery points, download archives, or restore the graph.

Snapshot Types

Manual Snapshots

Click “Create Backup” at any time to freeze the current state of your graph, all views, metadata, and custom layout positions. Useful before major organizational restructures or modeling workshops.

Automated Safety Backups

Kyb automatically takes a safety snapshot before executing high-impact actions, such as cloud discovery resyncs, large bulk reclassifications, or Archi model re-imports.

Point-in-Time Restore

To restore your architecture graph to an earlier point in time:

  1. 1. Locate the desired snapshot in the Backups table (timestamps and sizes are clearly labeled).
  2. 2. Click the Restore button (clock rewind icon).
  3. 3. Type the confirmation phrase in the safety dialog to confirm the rollback.
  4. 4. Kyb reloads the triple store to the exact snapshot state and refreshes the canvas automatically.

Native Project Bundles (.kyb.zip)

For disaster recovery, offline compliance archives, or moving projects between staging and production, Kyb supports full self-contained project export bundles (.kyb.zip):

  • Export:In Project Settings, click “Export Project Bundle”. Kyb packages all semantic N-Triples, view configs, manifests, and layout states into a compressed zip file.
  • Import: Upload any .kyb.zip file via Settings or the Project switcher. Kyb remaps IRIs and instantiates a complete, fully functioning clone of the project graph.
