Query Studio & SPARQL

As architecture graphs grow to hundreds or thousands of nodes, visual scanning alone is not enough.Query Studio provides a visual query builder and semantic analytics studio to question your architecture, identify systemic dependencies, and generate tabular or chart reports.

Opening Query Studio

In the Explorer, click the Query Studio button in the top action bar. Query Studio opens in a non-destructive modal, allowing you to run queries without losing your current view or canvas layout.

Visual Query Builder

The visual query builder allows non-technical architects and managers to construct complex graph queries step-by-step:

  1. 1. Seed Selection: Choose the starting entity type (e.g., Application Component, GKE Workload, or Database).
  2. 2. Property Filters: Add conditional filters such as layer, tag, review status, or property value (e.g. environment == "production").
  3. 3. Relationship Traversal: Follow specific outgoing or incoming relationships (e.g. Serving, Access, Flow) up to 3 hops deep.
  4. 4. Target Projection: Select which target entities and properties to include in the output dataset.

Result Visualizers (Table & Chart)

When execution completes, Query Studio presents the result dataset in two complementary modes:

Interactive Table

A high-density data grid displaying matched entities, source/target pairs, layers, and properties. Supports sorting, column filtering, and clicking any row to navigate directly to that entity on the canvas.

Analytics Chart

Interactive bar and distribution charts powered by Vega-Lite and Recharts. Automatically aggregates results by layer, specialization type, or connection count for executive presentations.

Saved Queries

Save queries you run regularly (e.g. “All unreviewed cloud databases”,“Internet-facing services without WAF”). Saved queries can be named, tagged, and re-executed anytime with a single click.

Direct SPARQL Endpoint

For advanced data engineers and ontology specialists, Kyb provides a direct SPARQL query interface backed by the high-performance Oxigraph engine at /api/sparql.
